Wedding dress shopping is a completely different experience than regular clothes shopping.
Oh man, was I unprepared or what? You have to have an appointment to try anything on, for starters. I’m used to walking in, looking around, trying on a few things I like, and either making a purchase or leaving. Not gonna happen when you’re wedding dress shopping. My fiance Phillip, or my Feisty Fellow as I’ll call him on the blog, and I live in Troy, Alabama so we went to Montgomery for a Costco trip, some last minute Christmas shopping, and a trip to David’s Bridal for some wedding dress shopping.
David’s Bridal has several different price points to choose from; anywhere from $100 to $2000! I originally chose five dresses ranging from $150 to $800. The wonderful saleswoman who helped me, Peppy, picked a sixth one that was on clearance for $250.
They have a great selection of shoes and accessories too. They even have gifts as such as mugs for the mother of the groom!
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone
It’s good to step out of your comfort zone every now and then. If I had not have stepped out of my comfort zone, I would not have figured out that a long dress is the right style wedding dress for me!
As you can see, shorter dresses just aren’t great for me. I normally don’t wear long dresses though because I’m clumsy and will be much more likely to trip with a long dress. Nothing a pair of heels couldn’t fix though!
Accessories can make a BIG difference
The pictures prove that heels, the right veil, or maybe a belt can make a big difference!
Keep Your Budget In Mind
Considering that just the dress is costly enough, once you start tallying up the cost of all the accessories and extras, the final price tag can end up leaving you shell-shocked. So make sure to keep your budget in mind and if you don’t absolutely love it, no matter the cost, keep looking until you find one you love and can afford.
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
Wedding dress shopping is a special experience so don’t forget to have fun and enjoy yourself. Goof off, strike some model poses, and as Ru Paul famously sang, “work it girl, give a twirl, do your thing on the runway”.
