Living in the South, you never know when the weather will get cold, let alone stay cold. You could have a couple of days of cold weather then bam back to warm. Typically Late October/Early November is when it starts to stay cold. And by cold, I mean like in the 60s instead of the 80s. It’s cold enough to turn the fireplace on and snuggle up in a blanket to watch a movie though! Here are five movies to watch when the weather gets cold. Grab your blanket and your hot cocoa and get comfy.
This movie never gets old. I mean it’s Christmas in London; what’s not to like?! My favorite scene is a tie between the musicians popping up out of the crowd at the wedding and the fantastic rendition of All I Want For Christmas Is You. I could do without Martin Freeman starring in a porno and the scene with Colin Firth and the polish family when he proposes. Still a great movie to watch when the weather starts to get cold.
If you want to imagine yourself on vacation to a warm beach instead of freezing at home buried underneath a million blankets, this is the movie for you. Just a warning though, you will get the songs stuck in your head. And Pierce Brosnan can’t sing to save his life. I watched this movie for the first time over the summer before the sequel came out and was dying of laughter. Julie Walters (aka Molly Weasley from Harry Potter) was by far the best character in the movie! And I’m not just saying that because I’m a massive Harry Potter fan.
P.S. I Love You.
This is the movie for you if you want to get lost in a brilliant romance. Gerard Butler, Ireland, Gerard Butler’s accent; have I mentioned Gerard Butler? It will make you cry, laugh, and smile; the trifecta of a good romance movie.
The Princess Diaries.
Let’s throw it back to the early 2000’s and relive our childhood fantasies of being a princess. I am so excited that this is on Netflix! This was always one of my favorite movies when I was growing up.
Are you an avid reader of romantic historical fiction novels? If yes, this is the movie for you! If not, you should still watch it. Keira Knightley is one of my favorite actresses because she does so many historical type movies.
A bonus movie: Die Hard. It’s set at Christmas time, and it was back when Bruce Willis still had hair. The man in your life will appreciate you watching this with him.
