Chemistry is the freaking worst,
I know it’s important and all that, but seriously?! Math AND science all rolled into one super difficult class? Uh no, thanks! I’d like to keep them separate thank you very much.
Don’t even get me started on sig figs…. Ugh I can’t stand them.
I have a C in Chemistry right now. I’m used to making A’s, this is driving me crazy. Not crazy enough to pull my calculator out and start figuring out what I need to make on each test and lab to pull my grade up to an A….. but we’re starting to head into that crazy territory.
I’m not letting it drag me down though, I just need to stay motivated and push on through to the end of the semester. Would I love to have an A? YES, but a B is okay too. Heck even a C would be alright, this is chemistry we’re talking about, after all.
So here’s how I stay motivated when I’m taking a hard class:
I’ve said this in A LOT of posts, and I will probably say this in my sleep; a planner is your best friend. Seriously, it’s SO much easier to handle a difficult class when you know what is going on and when. I mean, how awful would it be if you showed up to class on test day and didn’t realize there was a test? Seriously awful, but since you have it in your planner, you show up ready to ace the test. At least until you get to the stupid density formula and can’t remember it. Or is that just me?
Use All Resources Available
So besides Google, there’s a ton of resources available to help on the internet. Google can get to all those magic resources. Man I love Google!
In addition to online resources, there are plenty of ways to get help on campus too. My college offers tutoring services on campus AND online tutoring. And guess what?! It’s all FREE. Well technically I’m paying for it via tuition and fees, but still. And my chemistry professor is so incredibly helpful. She wants everybody to succeed and makes sure that we know that she is there to help if we need it. She rocks, I just HATE chemistry with a burning passion.
One Step At A Time
Rome wasn’t built in a day people! So sit back, relax, and take it day by day. If you find yourself getting frustrated with a certain subject or assignment, take a step back and come back to it later. Sometimes a fresh perspective is all you need to conquer the issue at hand. Obviously
I feel like this post is more of a rant about how much I despise chemistry instead of anything useful for
Y’all. So I’ll end things on a more positive note with some cute moments from some students at work this week.
In case you aren’t aware or have forgotten, I work at a pre-school three days a week. During the day, I’m in my regular classroom with my three-year-olds. Then for a few hours in the afternoon I work extended care with a mix of three-year-olds and four-year-olds.
So it’s snack time with the fours on Wednesday and I don’t normally work Wednesdays so one of the kids comes and gives me a hug, and then I kid you not, he points to my stomach goes “Do you have a baby in there?” and I was just like, “Nope. I’m just fat.” Same kid, same time, just the next day, he hands me his nameplate to clean and accidentally drops it. He goes, “I know you don’t have a husband yet so I’ll be a gentleman and pick it up for you”, then hands it to me. Kids y’all! They have no filter.
